A copy of any foreign judgment authenticated in accordance with an act of Congress or the laws of this Territory may be filed in the office of the clerk of the High Court of American Samoa. The clerk shall treat the foreign judgment in the same manner as a judgment of the High Court of American Samoa. A judgment so filed has the same effect and is subject to the same procedures, defenses and proceedings for reopening, vacating or staying as a judgment of the High Court of American Samoa and may be enforced or satisfied in like manner.History: 1965, PL 9-1l.
Under statute providing for the registration and enforcement of a foreign judgment, court would not register a divorce judgment on behalf of one who was not a party to the divorce but who claims to be the "owner" of the judgment by virtue of the assignment, without information concerning the circumstances of the acquisition of the judgment.
