Call For Comments
The ASBA is still looking for volunteers to help identify and organize headnotes for the new volumes of the ASRs. The quicker this is done, the quicker the ASRs can be released. Sharron Rancourt will be organizing this project. If you would like to participate, please get in touch with her.
At the annual meeting on April 28th, the Constitution and By-Laws Committee will present four amendments for the ASBA’s consideration. Please read over the proposals and have comments and amendments ready during the meeting.
(1) An amendment to the By-Laws changing the number needed for quorum from 10 members, to 20% of the on-island members. Read it here.
(2) An amendment to the Constitution adding as an officer an American Bar Association Delegate. Read it here.
(3) An amendment to the By-Laws adding as an officer an American Bar Association Delegate. Read it here.
(4) An interpretation of the notice requirements found in the Constitution and By-Laws to include email and other electronic communication. Read it here.
Judge Ward has asked for comments from the bar concerning new guardianship forms the court plans to use.

The Chief Justice has released a new memo regarding the pending appellate cases. With the announcement that Judge Ward and Judge Patea have been made Associate Justices, the Chief Justice has announced that future appellate panels will be made up entirely of on-island justices. The three justices that were not part of the original decision will act as appellate judges.
